We’re diving nose-first into the tantalising world of Italian perfumery with my review of Fico di Amalfi by Acqua di Parma. A standout among the brand’s line-up, it intrigues us with a dominant fig note – not a common lead in fragrances – offering a little twist that piques our interest.

Fico di Amalfi centers around the luscious note of fig, an unusual choice that gives it a certain individuality in the landscape of summer fragrances. It’s a symphony of freshness, as the fig’s unique character is supported by an array of citrus fruits. The result? A scent that’s airy and invigorating – absolutely made for summer.
But here’s where my opinion veers off the beaten path. I don’t believe Fico di Amalfi is the best fig perfume on the market. While it does stand out due to its unique main note, the citrus tones come off a bit too aggressive for my taste. The harshness gives it an unwanted edge, almost reminiscent of a bathroom cleaner, which is quite surprising for a house like Acqua di Parma, renowned for their expertise in crafting fresh, citrusy perfumes.
Longevity:
True to Acqua di Parma’s style, Fico di Amalfi belongs to the fresh and light cologne category, ideal for the warmer months. As with most scents of this ilk, you wouldn’t expect exceptional longevity. However, compared to other Acqua di Parma offerings, Fico di Amalfi proves to be a stronger contender in the longevity department, managing to hang around for about 3-4 hours. It’s still not an all-day affair, but it does better than most of its siblings.
