Let me tell you about Acqua di Giò from Armani, released back in 1996. This perfume is one of, if not the best-selling men’s fragrance of all time. Since its release, there have been countless flankers, but guess what? The original Acqua di Giò is still around and continues to be one of the most sold men’s fragrances. That’s pretty impressive.
Quick Facts:
Smell:
Acqua di Giò was a game-changer when it hit the market. Why, you ask? Well, it introduced aquatic notes to the perfume world, and we’re all better off for it. The fragrance is watery, fresh, aquatic, and super transparent, with a twist of lemon to round it up. That’s how you create a timeless classic, my friends. Even today, it smells fantastic and is perfectly wearable.
This is the kind of fragrance that was here 25 years ago, is still going strong today, and will probably be around 25 years from now when many others have been discontinued. Obviously, this is a summertime fragrance. So, throw on your Ray-Ban sunglasses, some light linen clothes, and you’re ready to rock.
Longevity:
Now, if Acqua di Giò were a bit longer-lasting and more potent, it would still be one of the best men’s summer fragrances out there. The scent itself isn’t the issue – it’s pretty good. So yeah, while longevity isn’t terrible, it also isn’t great. I’d say it’s slightly below average, but don’t let that stop you from giving it a try.
