Pomelo Sorrento (Gritti)

My Full Fragrance Review:

Venturing into the world of niche fragrances always feels like an expedition into the uncharted and unknown. In this particular quest, I stumbled upon Gritti, a brand that even for me was largely unheard of until recently. You don’t see Gritti gracing the shelves of your local fragrance stores, nor is it the topic of enthusiastic chatter in online forums. But then, isn’t that the charm of a niche fragrance? It’s essentially a niche within the niche, a brand that hasn’t yet been ‘discovered’ by the masses.

My curiosity was piqued when I started to see some buzz around Pomelo Sorrento, their best-seller. So I did what any fragrance enthusiast would do: I ordered a bottle. So here’s my review and opinion on this summer perfume gem.

5 Things You Need to Know about Gritti - Pomelo Sorrento #perfume #fragrance

Quick Facts:

  • Scent Profile: fresh, citrus
  • Season: summer
  • Longevity: short
  • Occasion: daytime activities
  • Age Group: All-Ages
  • Price: $$$

Smell:

The first impression of Pomelo Sorrento? Think summer in a bottle. As a unisex fragrance, it is delightfully light and refreshing, and doesn’t lean heavily masculine with the typical woods or feminine with intense florals. It’s more of a cologne style perfume designed to invoke that breezy summer feel.

Pomelo Sorrento by Gritti is essentially a citrus fragrance, with the heart composed of zesty grapefruit. But it’s not just grapefruit we’re talking about here. Imagine a basket of fresh citrus fruits, their vibrant aromas mingling together.

But Pomelo Sorrento comes with a charming twist. Alongside the citrus medley, there’s an undercurrent of green tea, light and subtle, cutting through the fruity overtones. The overall result is reminiscent of a citrus iced tea, minus the artificial sweetness. It’s refreshing, invigorating and perfect for those scorching summer days.

Longevity:

Here’s the thing about citrus fragrances – they’re not known for their longevity. Pomelo Sorrento by Gritti is no exception. But should we fault them for it? Not really. We’re talking about a scent that’s designed to refresh and revitalise, not overpower, especially on a hot summer day. So, expect it to last around 2-4 hours, depending on the number of sprays.

I’m a little generous when it comes to application, using around nine sprays to ensure a more robust performance.

Final Thoughts:

So, what’s my take on Gritti and their Pomelo Sorrento? As my initiation into the brand, I have to say, I’m impressed. There’s a reason why this is their best-seller – it’s unique, it’s refreshing, and it’s got a certain twist that sets it apart from its peers.

If you’re a fan of fresh, unisex scents like Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford but crave a little extra, Pomelo Sorrento could be your next big find.

And if you’re specifically on the hunt for a citrus-tea summer fragrance, another contender is Wūlóng Chá from Nishane. This one, however, is a denser, more intense option thanks to its Extrait de Parfum concentration.
