My Full Fragrance Review:
Making its grand entrance as a flanker to the wildly popular men’s fragrance Eros, Versace’s Eros Flame offers an interesting twist on an established classic. The original Eros is beloved for its clubbing suitability, placing it on the A-list of fragrances for men. If you haven’t yet had the chance to experience the initial Eros offering, I’d recommend a quick detour to my previous review before diving into this one on Eros Flame. So, what’s the new scent got to offer? Is Eros Flame a worthy extension of the Versace’s Eros lineup? Read on to explore my opinion and see if it ignites a spark.
Quick Facts:
Smell:
To paint a quick olfactory picture of the original Eros, think of a potent mix of sweetness amplified by the presence of dominant mint—a loud, attention-grabbing aroma, somehow balanced to avoid being overbearing. It seems Eros Flame has been learning from its predecessor, adopting a similar scent profile while introducing its own twists. At its core, it’s unmistakably Eros—think sweetness laced with fresh mint, but with the volume turned down. Versace’s new blend injects a burst of freshness and a citrusy twist into the mix.
What does this translate to? In comparison to the original Eros, Flame offers a lighter, fresher fragrance that’s simpler to wear—imagine if they’d called it Eros Summer Edition. No longer just a nightclub exclusive, Eros Flame is a versatile option that’s suitable for daytime and casual settings. It’s less ostentatious but still retains that youthful, fun appeal that makes it an excellent choice for teenagers or those with a playful spirit.
Longevity:
However, the changes in Eros Flame’s formula come at a cost—its longevity. By turning down the sweetness and incorporating fresh citrus notes, Eros Flame doesn’t last quite as long as its predecessor. Let’s be clear, it isn’t a poor performer by any means—it projects well and has average longevity. But the high bar set by the original Eros in terms of longevity is a tough act to follow for this flanker.
