In the world of perfumes, there’s a saying – everything old is new again. And having been on this fragrant journey for quite some time, I’ve often felt this sentiment. Many times, I’d think, “Ah, this reminds me of that.” Or, “Hmm, this is quite like Layton but with an added sprinkle of sweetness.” Then along comes DesirToxic by M. Micallef, shattering that déjà vu and offering a refreshing scent journey, unlike any other I’ve experienced. It’s a delightful rarity in a world where familiar is the norm.

Hold onto your hats, gents, because DesirToxic is a wild ride! Its opening is mesmerizing – it grips you instantly. The beauty of this fragrance lies in its unpredictability. At one point, it tempts with sweet, fruity notes – perhaps a hint of black currant? Then, it envelops you in a world of green – think hemp and vetiver, but there’s more. Imagine a heavy, smoky essence but with an unexpected, lingering freshness. Complementing this is a gentle citrus undertone that doesn’t steal the show but rather elevates it.
Now, the crux of my opinion here – it’s the interplay of the smokiness, freshness, green notes, and that unexpected black currant that sets DesirToxic apart. It’s not just another perfume. It’s a category in itself. And while it exudes a sweet aura, its masculinity is undeniable, making it a top pick for guys aged 20-40. When should you wear it? In my opinion it’s an all-seasons fragrance, which is perfect for dates and the nightlife. I rarely got asked that many times “which perfume are you wearing?”.
And just when you think you’ve figured it out, DesirToxic throws another twist. About half an hour in, the bold smoky and hemp notes mellow down, letting its sweeter side shine through. An olfactory chameleon, if you will.
Longevity:
In terms of its staying power, DesirToxic starts off strong, projecting prominently for the initial 3-4 hours. However, as time progresses, it becomes more intimate, nestling closer to the skin. Considering the scent’s transformation and the way it changes, I prefer to be a bit more liberal with its application, opting for 7-9 sprays, especially considering that I’m exclusively wearing this in my leisure time.
