My Full Fragrance Review:
Occasionally, expectations lead to disappointment in the most unexpected moments. This sentiment perfectly encapsulates my experience with Aqua Allegoria – Mandarine Basilic by Guerlain, particularly the Harvest Edition variant. Despite its wide availability and variant options, I find myself hesitant to recommend this fragrance to you. Let me explain why.
Quick Facts:
Smell:
The disappointment with Mandarine Basilic isn’t about its smell. In fact, it smells fantastic, exactly as promised. The label accurately reflects the scent: a very authentic, slightly acidic mandarine complemented by not-too-strong basilic herbal notes. It’s a delightful mix, rare in its combination, slightly reminiscent of the more expensive Torino21 by Xerjoff. In my opinion it’s suitable for all ladies, particularly those who are older and prefer not to smell too girly, as it isn’t sweet or floral. It’s best worn daily during summer. So, the smell isn’t disappointing at all; it’s actually quite convincing.
Longevity:
Here’s where the real issue lies. The performance of Aqua Allegoria – Mandarine Basilic, or at least the Harvest Edition that I’ve tried, is extremely poor. The fragrance lasts only 20 to 30 minutes, which is disappointingly brief and the main reason why I advise against buying this fragrance. Seriously, I’m not joking when I say that even 20 sprays won’t help you.
