As someone who appreciates quality fragrances, I’ve found that Lattafa is progressively making its mark as one of my favorite fragrance houses. Granted, not all their fragrances are spectacular, but they do possess a select few that stand out due to their exceptional value-for-money. Generally, I steer clear of blatant duplicates – I enjoy a fragrance that takes inspiration from another but adds a unique twist, creating its own identity with distinctive bottle designs and branding. Yet, here I am, preparing to write a review about Oud for Glory, a fragrance that is a spitting image of the much more expensive perfume Oud for Greatness by Initio – not just in terms of fragrance but in name and bottle design as well. The quality of other Lattafa fragrances and the eagerness to share information about this remarkable perfume inspired me to break my rule.
Quick Facts:
Smell:
I had the chance to sample Initio’s Oud for Greatness about a year ago, so although I can’t compare it side by side with Oud for Glory, my memory serves me well enough to say that they are strikingly similar. As the name suggests, Oud for Glory is a strong Oud fragrance, encapsulating an elegant, woody, sweet, and enigmatic aroma – a niche characteristic as opposed to the mainstream direction of most Lattafa fragrances. The amalgamation of sweet Saffron, Oud, and Nutmeg results in a scent that isn’t just around every corner. Is it pleasurable to wear? Absolutely! But, be ready for it to grow on you over a few wears. Be prepared for reactions – both positive and negative. Given its deep and bold character, it’s ideal for colder days and transitions well into autumn and spring. While it may not be best suited for very young or very senior gentlemen, it perfectly fits the bill for men in their 30s.
Longevity:
On the topic of longevity, Oud for Glory does not disappoint. This fragrance will keep heads turning for several hours, definitely better than your average scent. My suggestion is to start off with five sprays and adjust according to preference from there.
